BookFlicks - Apply
//
What is BookFlicks?
BookFlicks is an Arts Council England supported project that offers creative people the chance to celebrate the books they love by making their own TikTok style films about them, then getting them seen internationally on social media.
Each successful BookFlicks applicant will be supported through the whole creative process as they make their own original content and then guided as to how to reach the biggest audiences possible.

- BFI Film Academy
- BBC New Creatives
- Point of View
- Random Acts
- Teme Valley Youth Project
There is no age limit, you simply need to have worked with us previously!
BookFlicks is split into two stages.
Stage 1:
Each successful applicant will get £1k to create 4 TikTok-style films about 4 of your favourite books. You'll be given advice & guidance as to how to get your films seen by the biggest audiences. Applications for Stage 1 closed November 11th 2022. Read the Stage 1 Terms & Conditions in full here.
Stage 2:
Successful applicants will get £4k to make 1 high-quality, micro-short film using 1 of 3 books. The 3 books, written by first-time writers, have been chosen by Hay Festival 2023, where they will also feature.
Working alongside these new, exciting authors, you will come up with an idea that visually expresses the story and the world featured on the pages...in less than a minute!
Please note: in order to be eligible to take part in Stage 2, you must have applied to Stage 1.
As part of the application process, Rachel and Elle from the BookFlicks team hosted live inspiration workshops, where those interested were able to learn more about the project and speak directly to the team with any questions. Catch up and watch Session 3 here.
